What is re:vitalize – Toronto Reference Library Campaign?

re:vitalize – Toronto Reference Library Campaign is a $10 million private sector fundraising campaign being led by the Toronto Public Library Foundation in support
of the $34 million revitalization of the Toronto Reference Library.


Why is the Toronto Reference Library being revitalized?

In the 30+ years since the Toronto Reference Library opened its doors, the role of libraries has changed dramatically. Libraries today need to respond to the new
ways that people study, seek and share information. Today's libraries must adapt
to changing information needs and demand for new technologies.

Responding to increased public demand – and the international sea of change
in library design and service delivery – the Toronto Public Library is revitalizing
the Toronto Reference Library to increase its capacity to serve and captivate.


Will the Library have to close during renovation?

The Library will remain open throughout the renovation process.


Why is the Foundation raising money for the Toronto Reference Library?

The Toronto Public Library Foundation's mission is to provide enhanced resources
to Toronto Public Library without replacing core support provided by city taxpayers.
By securing a $10 million investment from the Government of Ontario and $10 million through the re:vitalize Campaign, the Foundation is helping the Library achieve
project outcomes more quickly.

Will there be recognition for my gift?

All donors to the re:vitalize Campaign will be celebrated for their contributions.
Through our Donor Recognition program, gifts at all levels will be recognized in ways commensurate with levels of giving. For example, all gifts of $1,000 or more will be recognized in perpetuity on a Campaign Donor Wall to be installed in the revitalized Toronto Reference Library.
